From, 14 to 17 of May, the Bienal Pavilion will be transformed once again in a unique meeting point and a reference for those interested in masterpieces of modern and contemporary art. There will be approximately 70 galleries, carefully selected among leading art galleries from Brazil and invited countries, such as Argentina, Chile, Uruguay, Portugal, Germany and France, which guarantees an exquisite experience with contemporary art and the outstanding quality of over 1,500 artists.
The fair was created in 2005 and over the past years of its existence the Fair has broken through barriers to bring the vibrant and stimulating atmosphere of a large international art fair to São Paulo. The city is the most important economic, business and financial center of Latin America, with a diversified cultural life and vast gastronomy options, important museums, cultural centers and an effervescent nightlife of a cosmopolitan metropolis.
Over the course of this time, the Fair has earned the deepest affection and respect of the public, attracting more galleries, art lovers and professionals with each edition. In this brief span of time, SP Arte has established itself on the national and international calendar as one of the most eagerly-awaited events in Latin America. This is due to the indomitable professionalism of all those involved in producing the event and to the galleries, cultural institutions and museums dedicated to reflecting upon, collecting, exhibiting, creating and promoting art.
The SP Arte cultural program will be realized in the Lina Bo Bardi Auditorium in the Museum of Modern Art, from 14 to 16 of May, where a panel discussions will be held in order to discuss and reflect about art ? its creation process, production, exhibition and its market. Among our guests there is Emma Lavigne, curator of the Pompidou Center, who will talk about the influence of Brazilians artists in French artists.
SP Arte 2009 has the sponsorship of Unibanco Private Bank, Oi and Mitsubishi.
We are extremely happy to welcome artists, art dealers, collectors, curators, art critics and journalists, as well as the public who feel passionate about art!
