Nueva York mirará de nuevo el arte latinoamericano en primer plano


La Feria Latinoamericana de Arte Moderno y Contemporáneo regresará a Manhattan por segundo año consecutivo. Cincuenta galerías de Estados Unidos, Europa y América Latina presentarán una selección refinada de obras de artistas de la región

Nueva York (Junio 6, 2008) – La diversidad artística y la vitalidad creativa de América Latina se sentirán en Manhattan cuando PINTA, la Feria Latinoamericana de Arte Moderno y Contemporáneo, regrese a la ciudad en el otoño 2008 por segundo año consecutivo. Del 13 al 16 de noviembre, el Metropolitan Pavilion y Altman Building albergarán la selección más refinada de obras que representan las múltiples maneras como los artistas de la región han abordado las artes visuales.

PINTA 2008 honrará a uno de los artistas más prolíficos de nuestros tiempos, el peruano Fernando Bryce. Nacido en Lima en 1965, Bryce es miembro de una elite de artistas de Suramérica que han ganado el reconocimiento de la comunidad mundial. Sus dibujos son reflejos de la historia colectiva de Latinoamérica, lo que él logra al reproducir materiales extraídos de medios impresos. Muchas de sus obras conceptuales son parte de colecciones permanentes en el Museum of Modern Art (MOMA) en Nueva York y la Tate Gallery en Londres. Durante el lanzamiento oficial de PINTA, que será el 12 de noviembre en The Americas Society (680 Park Avenue), Bryce dictará una conferencia sobre el contexto del arte latinoamericano.

En la edición 2007, este evento fue aclamado por la prensa especializada y los coleccionistas de arte por el estilo de su formato y la selección de las obras. “Pinta es un gran evento en un empaque pequeño”, escribió Holland Cotter, crítico de arte de The New York Times. Este año, Pinta ampliará su capacidad, pero preservará su formato distintivo y su nivel de calidad.

Cincuenta galerias de Estados Unidos, Europa y Latinoamérica exhibirán trabajos de sus artistas que, en conjunto, ofrecerán un primer plano excepcional del arte moderno y contemporáneo de la región, con énfasis en los movimientos abstracto, concreto, neo-concreto, cinético y conceptual.

A Close-Up of Latin American Art Will Capture New York’s Look Again



Manhattan will welcome this Latin-American art fair for second year in a row. Fifty galleries of the United States, Europe and Latin America will display the finest selection of Modern and Contemporary artworks by artists of the region

New York (June 6th, 2008)- Artistic diversity and creative vitality of Latin America will pulse through Manhattan when PINTA, the Latin American Fair for Modern and Contemporary Art, comes back to the city this coming fall for second year. From November 13th to 16th, the Metropolitan Pavilion and Altman Building will embrace the finest selection of artworks that represents the many ways that artists of this region have approached the visual arts.

PINTA 2008 will honor one of the most prolific artists of our times, Peruvian Fernando Bryce. Born in Lima in 1965, Bryce is member of South-American art elite who has pierced the consciousness of the world community. His drawings are reflections of the collective history of Latin America, an impression he fosters through his reproduction of various forms of printed media. Some of his conceptual artworks have been included in permanent collections in the Museum of Modern Art (MOMA) in New York and the Tate Gallery in London. During the official launching of Pinta on November 12th at The Americas Society (680 Park Avenue), Bryce will discuss recent trends in Latin American art.

Last year, this event was acclaimed by art media and collectors for its stylish layout. “Pinta is a big event in a small package,” wrote Holland Cotter, an art critic for The New York Times. Moreover, its astonishing selection exceeded the scope of other art fairs. This year, Pinta will extend its capacity while preserving its distinctive layout and level of quality to attract collectors and an audience interested in the artistic overview of the region.
Fifty galleries from the United States, Europe and Latin America will display works by their artists to provide an exceptional close up of modern and contemporary art with emphasis on abstract, concrete, new concrete, kinetic and conceptual trends.
